085 – Lorne Sausage, Memories of Jeffrey Archer and Lee Child’s Brexit Intervention

Is it insulting to compare a crime to a Jeffrey Archer novel? Would Culverhouse like Adam? Should straight men be able to write queer characters and where’s the best barbecue in Georgia?

Adam Croft and regular guest presenter Adrian Hobart do their best to answer these pressing crime related questions in the latest episode.

Adrian has been checking out greasy spoons while his sons do parkrun. Stay tuned for the first instalment of Adrian Hobart’s Restaurant Recommendations.

Meanwhile Adam has been scouring the crime news headlines for stories to talk about. He gives a rundown of the best crime fiction from Georgia, tells us why Lee Child is applying for an Irish passport and what new TV show Harrison Ford is appearing in. One of his stories sparks memories of a close encounter with Jeffrey Archer for Adrian.

084 – Pratting Around, Cheap Heroin and Crime’s Golden Age

If you briefly die, but are then resuscitated, does that wipe clean your debt to society? Why is audio fiction having a comeback? What if Jane Tennison interviewed Prince Andrew and where is Bob this week?

Adam Croft and guest host Adrian Hobart answer these questions – except perhaps the last – on this week’s episode.

Adrian’s been in glamorous but grubby Brighton, researching his new book. He gives us the lowdown on his visit to the seaside, tempting Adam with the lure of budget narcotics. Adam has been thinking about the detective-like overtones of the recent Prince Andrew interview on Newsnight. They also discuss the golden age of detective fiction, what’s on the Brit box and YouTube rabbit holes.

083 – Condoning Murder, Sordid Radio Tales and Feeling Bob’s Presence

Adrian is here again this week. Adam talks about the process of writing his new book, Absolution which came out this week. It’s a political thriller which echoes real events, perhaps more closely than he was happy with. This segues nicely into a news story about whether politicians have been watching true crime – or reading crime fiction. They also talk about whether or not crime writers approve of murder and answer – in great detail – their least favourite question: where do you get your ideas from? Bob may be away, but his presence is felt when his star turn in Alan Ayckbourn’s Ten Times Table is discussed. Stay tuned until the end of the episode where Adrian opens the door on the shocking goings on behind the scenes in the radio industry.
